Develop commercially viable integrated urban solutions across Shell’s capabilities and with external partners

Strong understanding of Shell technology offers across Shell businesses

Identify and build up relationships with technology partners from:

IHLs, research institutes, government

local technology companies, startups, small medium enterprises

Large corporations

Work closely with the Commercial team and customers to understand city stakeholders’ urban needs in mobility, energy and environment, co-vision and create solutions to address those needs, invite customers to co-innovate and testbed with Shell

Identify promising near-market technologies to bring to market

Pursue possible further funding from government agencies

Strong linkage/dotted line to Technical Support and NERT teamsThe Smart City Innovator is responsible for scouting, developing and integrating smart cities digital solutions to form an integrated offering for urban solutions. The SCI will research and monitor smart city developments around the word, understand available solutions as well as near term technologies that can be brought to market and develop a network of potential technology partners.

The SCI is also responsible for integrating physical and digital infrastructure, and to formulate the type of experiences to be created to meet specific customer needs (businesses and/or individual) in energy, mobility and/or environment. The SCI is expected to select suitable digital technology (e.g. sensors, artificial intelligence, data analytics, Internet of Things) to be incorporated to other solutions (e.g. behind the meter solutions, EV charging ) to bring value to both the customer and Shell. The SCI will innovate new ideas with the use of data to drive decisions on multiple systems.

The SCI will work closely with the Commercial team and the Innovate team on defining the use of the smart city digital solution as part of holistic integrated urban solutions. The SCI will work with the Implement team to enable implementation and drive the roll out of the smart city digital solution with the relevant businesses and operations.
